![]() I find very often when Tefillin are brought in to be checked that the Retuzos have been largely ignored for many years. These Tefillin came in today. As you can see the contrast from the spots that was repainted to the state that they were when they came in, as you can see they were clearly not black. When Tefillin straps are not black the Tefillin may only be worn when there are no other Kosher pairs available, and a Brachah can not be made. Look over your straps to ensure they are black. If they are not you can bring them in for us to paint them. If you only need a few touch ups you can purchase a Marker or Bottle to do the job.

Check out my YouTube channel for the latest updates Many things can render Tefillin or Mezuzah not Kosher or at best minimally Kosher. Some of these happen over time with aging and some unfortunately are Posul from the get go. Such as, Letters, words and or Tagim that are missing, extra substituted, touching, Broken, Improperly Spaced, misshapen faded, cracked and weather damaged. We document the problems we find and periodically upload them to the website. We hope that this will educate and encourage the public to purchase only Tefillin and Mezuzas that are high quality from a reputable source, to take care of them properly and have them checked regularly.
